My next single: Half-Smoked Cigarettes – out January 20th

Almost two years after the release of my first single, “Crash,” I’m excited to announce the release of my second single, “Half-Smoked Cigarettes.” And this one just feels different.

I wrote “Crash” in 2018 and didn’t release it until March of 2024. My style, voice, and songwrinting have changed quite substantially since 2018. Not to mention, my confidence in performing has improved & just my overall experience in the music world has increased. So, with “Crash,” my goal was to prove to myself that I could release a song. This time around, I want to see how far I can take this little music thing of mine.

Half-Smoked Cigarettes feels like an entryway to myself. It’s bluesy, it’s smoky (no pun intended), it’s a little jazzy, and at times it dips into edgier rock territory. It’s a track that feels most authentic to who I want to be as an artist & I am very proud to continue stepping into that genre—that genre being a self-proclaimed blend of dark Americana, blues rock, and soul.

The instrumentation on this song is next level, in my humble opinion—and I don’t even play a single instrument in the whole recording!! I have a bunch of mega-talented pals in Richmond who brought this one to life; first at my 30th birthday show back in March of last year, and then at the studio throughout the year. “Half-Smoked Cigarettes” is much more layered & complex than “Crash,” and honestly, I like it that way. The song has rich organ, keyboard, and electric guitar stacked over bass and drums. Not to mention the guitar solo goes hard.

Excited is an understatement, but I am overjoyed to bring this song to the public eye. “Half-Smoked Cigarettes” comes out January 20th at midnight & you can presave it on Spotify here.

I have one more exciting announcement coming up, so stay tuned!
