Savannah Getaway

This trip has been on the books for a while, ever since my friend Alexis’ husband called me to plan a trip for the two of us. I hadn’t seen Alexis since their wedding almost two years ago, so we were quite overdue for a girls trip. After some planning, we decided to rendezvous in Savannah, Ga— one of my favorite cities.

The traveling itself was hellish though— 2 canceled flights & 2 delays just to get to Savannah was a lot of stress. But although I have never had SUCH bad luck with traveling, the trip was a blast.

After checking into our hotel, we wandered down River Street, peeked into shops, and meandered our way to Treylor Park for dinner. We ended up sitting in the restaurant’s charming outdoor space in the back. Under stringed Edison lights, we enjoyed tacos and cocktails.

We started our evening with Prosecco at the hotel’s bar to cheers our girls trip. We had a hilarious conversation with the strangers sitting next to us before heading to Alley Cat. It’s one of my favorite bars in Savannah— tucked behind an alley and in a downstairs basement, the hidden bar offers a cozy atmosphere and great cocktails.

Sunday morning we slept in (BLESS) and had brunch at another charming restaurant called Collins Quarter. The Australian inspired cafe has amazing food and adorable interiors, not to mention incredible coffee. The first thing on our to do list after brunch was the Paris Market. This market is a gorgeously curated conglomerate of knick-knacks, home decor, books, jewelry and more. The rest of the early afternoon consisted of shopping at other boutiques on Broughton Street and going to the SCAD museum and shop.

We enjoyed a late, plant-based lunch and coffee at Fox and Fig before heading back to the hotel, checking out and driving to Alexis’ home in Aiken, SC.

The remainder of my trip with Alexis in Aiken was fun, low key and exactly what we both wanted—-much-needed girls time. From taking pictures and wandering around the Gardens to eating lots of food, we simply had an amazing time together. We have a feeling Savannah weekend trips might become a yearly thing.
